The entire team at Decra-Scape is heartbroken as we grieve the sudden loss of our dear colleague and friend, Kevin Pekkala, whose burial service we are attending on Saturday, August 19.
Kevin wasn't just a team member; he was family. A longtime team member, he was a beacon of positivity, consistency, and generosity.
Kevin loved nature, whether on his days off—which he often spent hiking, biking, camping under the stars, or enjoying time with the animals he loved—or in the incredible work he did supporting the design and build of outdoor spaces with our team. His commitment, diligence, and passion for our craft were unparalleled, and he has left a legacy of beauty throughout much of Michigan, having supported the design and build of landscapes throughout the Detroit area, as well as on the University of Michigan campus—fitting for this Ann Arbor native. We will forever see those spaces as a reminder of Kevin’s love for both the natural world and the work he did so well.
Our thoughts are with his parents, siblings, nephews, and the extended Pekkala family during this difficult time.
